Built around our permanent exhibition, ” Symmes Inn : Windows onto the Ottawa River”, our educational program helps students understand the defining role that geography, the local landscape, and the river have played in the development of Aylmer and our region. By exploring the social and economic evolution of the Outaouais in relation to the history of Quebec and Canada, students discover the stories of the people who shaped our regional history, as well as the activities that defined their era.
Our program consists of an on-site guided tour and engaging, game-based activities. We recommend combining the tour with the puzzle game for a total duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes to ensure a thorough reinforcement of knowledge and a meaningful reflection. These activities are led by our dedicated cultural mediation team. We also offer the option of a classroom lecture led by historian Lynne Rodier.
