The Museum is listed in the Répertoire des Ressources Culture-Éducation of the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications du Québec.

Our permanent exhibition, “L’Auberge Symmes: fenêtres sur l’Outaouais”, allows students to grasp the importance of geography, and to follow the social and economic evolution of the Outaouais, in relation to the history of Quebec and Canada.

The content of our program takes the form of an on-site guided tour for a class or an in-class lecture (1 period). We aim to introduce visitors to the history of the people who shaped the Outaouais, the economic and social activities that took place there, and the role played by Aylmer and the river in the development of our region.

This program is offered to two distinct groups:

  • One adapted to the 4th, 5th and 6th grade elementary school curriculum: Geography, History and Citizenship.
  • The second is based on the History of Canada and Quebec program for high school students.

For each activity, a pedagogical kit is available to help teachers prepare the group for the activity and ensure a follow-up in class. These activities are led by historian Lynne Rodier

Reservations are required.
