An interpretive walk through the heart of the Old Aylmer neighbourhood!

This activity will be held in French.

 

This guided walking tour explores the cultural landscape around the Musée de l’Auberge Symmes. Participants will discover how the Ottawa River, transportation routes, farming, and trade helped shape the development of Aylmer through historic maps, photographs, artworks, and museum artifacts.

The experience concludes with a free self-guided visit to the museum, offering a deeper understanding of the area’s history and heritage.

 

 

Two different tours are on offer:

Saturday Sept. 26 at 10 am: “In the Footsteps of the Chaudière Farm and Symmes Landing”

Sunday Sept. 27 at 10 am: “The Navigators’ District: Lumber Mills, River Navigation and Leisure Retreats”
